The Toronto Blue Jays eked out a 4-3 win versus the Los Angeles Dodgers at SkyDome. Nobody did more than pitcher Melido Perez, who captured player of the game honors. German Jimenez, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The win brings the Blue Jays to 10-8, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Mike Simms came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Ramiro Mendoza, he hit a 2-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Toronto on top, 4-3.

"It feels good to get this one," Perez told the Toronto Observer.
