Suns Get Win, Extend Streak to 10
|
Left-hander Jeff Fassero mesmerized the Savannah Swamp Foxes while leading the Jacksonville Suns to a 5-0 victory. The winning pitcher was Fassero, now 2-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. The winning streak has now reached 10 games for Jacksonville.
The Swamp Foxes had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Suns going into the top of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 33-year old second baseman Steve Buechele came to the plate. Buechele hit a solo home run on a 2-0 fastball from Savannah hurler Alan Benes. It was Buechele's 14th home run of the year.
"The wins are coming in bunches right now," said Fassero. "We'll enjoy it while it lasts."
