The Moonshiners grabbed a win, 11-8, at Torrance Grounds, overcoming a fine effort from Brooklyn pitcher Jim Mecir. Mecir went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs. Asheville reliever Mike Draper was the winner. His record is now 3-1. Darren Dreifort took the loss. Brooklyn, at 8-90, has lost 4 straight.

The Moonshiners got a big at-bat from first baseman Daisuke Yamashita. For the game, Yamashita went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Asheville a 11-8 lead.

"It feels good to get this one," Yamashita told the Asheville Daily News.
