Clippers Get Road Win, 5-0
|
The Columbus Clippers topped the Jacksonville Suns, 5-0, in Atlantic action at Field of the Running Rebels. The player of the game was Columbus pitcher and Houston, Texas native Anthony Young. Young, now 10-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. The Clippers improved to 47-54.
Columbus relied on the hitting of Carter Haney to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Clippers on top, 2-0. For the game, Haney had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"It was a good effort all around," said Haney.
