Colorado and Detroit duked it out at Mile High Stadium and the Rockies came out victorious.

Colorado right-hander Tom Rowe pitched his team to victory over the Detroit Tigers at Mile High Stadium. The final score was 5-3. Rowe went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-1.

Damion Easley had a big 2-run home run for the Rockies in the bottom of the first inning. With Colorado trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Steve Trachsel and stroked the home run to left. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rockies ahead, 3-2.

"Winning is contagious," said Easley. "We're looking forward to the next game."

Detroit, at 5-13, is off to a poor start in 1997.
