Otters Trounce Swamp Foxes, 10-2
|
Milwaukee left fielder Deion Sanders played a vital role in his team's 10-2 triumph over Savannah. He was 4-4 with 4 singles for Milwaukee. Willie Blair, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 14-2. Milwaukee's record now stands at 51-52, placing them third in the Atlantic Northeast.
Carlos A. Martinez had a big 2-run double for the Otters in the bottom of the second inning. With Milwaukee leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from C J Nitkowski and stroked the double to right. It was his 35th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Otters ahead, 4-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Sanders told the Milwaukee Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
