Victory Over Whalers Takes Asheville to 63-39
The Asheville Moonshiners powered past the Hartford Whalers, 10-5, at Wolves Ballpark. Yamil Benitez went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2, to lead the charge. The first-place Moonshiners, at 63-39, now lead their division by 4½ games.

In the top of the ninth, the Moonshiners took a 8-5 lead when Rikkert Faneyte hit a 2-run single.

"This was a good win for us," said Faneyte. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
