|
San Diego Padres starter Doug Drabek turned in a top-notch performance against the Baltimore Orioles at Jack Murphy Stadium. The result was a win for the Padres, 5-2. Drabek got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Drabek allowed 2 earned runs. Robb Nen earned the save for San Diego, his 2nd of the year.
Tony Clark put San Diego in front, 2-0, when he took Ben McDonald downtown. His solo home run came with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 6th home run of the season.
"I felt we were ready to go," said San Diego manager Matt Dodds. "Our pregame was pretty good."
The win leaves San Diego with a record of 9-9.
