The Asheville Moonshiners defeated the Savannah Swamp Foxes, 5-4, in Atlantic action at Torrance Grounds, with Asheville pitcher Steve Karsay named player of the game. Karsay, now 3-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Greg Hibbard notched his 3rd save in 5 chances.
Sherman Obando, who is tied for 9th in the ATL in total bases with 206, contributed to the Asheville win with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"It feels good to get this one," Karsay told the Asheville Herald.
The Moonshiners own a robust 65-38 mark.
