McKeel goes 3-for-5, Leads Beasties to Win
The Bluff City Beasties bested the Hartford Whalers, 11-9, at Ravens Ballpark. Walt McKeel was named player of the game. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Bluff City reliever Dan Serafini was credited with the win, to go to 9-1. Jimmy Haynes took the loss for Hartford. Mark Small earned his 4th save in 8 chances.

McKeel contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Bluff City in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, McKeel took a slider from Jimmy Haynes and stroked the home run to left. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Beasties to leap in front, 3-1.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Bluff City manager .

Bluff City, now 52-54, holds 5th place in the Atlantic Southeast.
