The Asheville Moonshiners handed the Southeast Slammers a loss at Torrance Grounds. The final score was 5-4. Hiromitsu Ochiai was named player of the game for Asheville. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 2. He also added 1 walk. The Moonshiners have an impressive 67-40 record.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the ninth, with the game tied, Roberto Petagine was at the plate when Asheville scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Moonshiners to go in front, 5-4.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Ochiai said after the game.
