Columbus left fielder Bubba Trammell played a vital role in his team's 7-6 triumph over Asheville. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs for Columbus. The winner was Columbus reliever Nelson Cruz, now 3-3. The loser was Jeff Juden.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Chris Pritchett came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Asheville pitcher Jeff Juden, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Columbus on top, 7-6.

In postgame remarks, Pritchett simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
