Whalers Lose, 8-2, at Fire Dogs Ballpark
|
The Ocean City Blue Crabs picked up a win at Fire Dogs Ballpark, knocking off the Hartford Whalers, 8-2. On the mound for Ocean City was right-hander Kevin Jarvis, who played a pivotal role in the win. Jarvis picked up the win for Ocean City, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 4-14. With the victory, the Blue Crabs record now stands at 43-64.
With runs few and far between, the Blue Crabs had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Ocean City came in the bottom of the seventh inning, when second baseman Ray Durham delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Larry Luebbers and made the score 3-2, Blue Crabs. Durham went 1-4, while scoring 2 times.
"We played hard and won," said Jarvis. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
