Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Jeff Reboulet, the Jacksonville Suns defeated the Rochester Red Wings, 9-4. Reboulet went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Suns. Jacksonville reliever Jack McDowell picked up the win, bumping his record to 5-1. Jose Mercedes was collared with the loss. The second-place Suns improved to 61-45.

Doug Mirabelli swatted a 2-run double for Jacksonville in the bottom of the eighth. The catcher went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 3.
