Multi-HR Day for Simms as Slammers Overpower Clippers, 13-5
|
The Southeast Slammers beat the Columbus Clippers, 13-5, at Ravens Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Mike Simms, who captured player of the game honors. He belted 3 home runs, while scoring 4 times and driving in 4. Southeast is 61-47 and Columbus, with the loss, 55-53.
The Slammers beat the Clippers with some clutch hitting. The double by Rob Natal in the bottom of the second is a good example. With two down, Natal gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he came through with the big hit.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Southeast manager .
