Moonshiners Prove Rude Guests, Win 8-6 at Rochester
|
The Asheville Moonshiners had to overcome a big game from Rochester shortstop Rich Aurilia to leave Ballpark of Ft. Lauderdale with a 8-6 victory. Aurilia was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Asheville starter Ken Cloude was credited with the win after throwing 106 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 13-4. Mike Draper earned his 21st save in 27 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for Asheville, had it not been for Yamil Benitez, the 24-year old left fielder . Benitez contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Asheville up, 3-2.
In postgame comments to the Asheville Daily News, Benitez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Asheville is now 65-45, 2 games up in the Atlantic Southeast.
