Victory Over Otters Takes Hartford to 76-36
|
The Hartford Whalers picked up a win at Wolves Ballpark, knocking off the Milwaukee Otters, 6-3. Starting pitcher Mike Thurman, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Thurman picked up the win for Hartford, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 10-6. Cory Lidle got the save, his 31st in 35 chances.
Felipe Crespo hit a run-scoring double off Jose Silva in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Whalers in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Crespo had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"Mike was pounding the zone," said Hartford manager .
Hartford improves to 76-36 with the win. They lead their division by 8½ games.
