Walk-Off Victory for Moonshiners Takes Record to 71-42
|
Behind the bravura of first baseman Roberto Petagine, the Asheville Moonshiners topped the Savannah Swamp Foxes by the score of 16-15. Petagine went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and 3 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for the Moonshiners. Asheville reliever Terry Mathews was the winner. His record is now 3-6. The losing pitcher was Jay Powell. The Swamp Foxes, now 73-40, have lost 4 in a row.
Petagine had a game-changing single in the bottom of the ninth. On a first pitch cutter from Jay Powell, he banged a run-scoring single to right-center, giving the Moonshiners a 16-15 lead. It was the 129th hit of the year for Petagine.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Petagine said.
