Victory Pushes Suns Record to 69-43
|
Jacksonville and Ocean City duked it out at Fire Dogs Ballpark and the Suns came out victorious.
Ocean City pitcher Kevin Jarvis gave the Suns all they could handle, but in the end, Jacksonville left Fire Dogs Ballpark with a 7-4 win. Jarvis allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings. Tony Fossas converted his 26th save in 26 tries.
The Suns got an important contribution from second baseman Jeff Manto, who in the top of the seventh knocked a 1-0 curveball into left for a grand slam home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Suns ahead, 7-4.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Manto said in postgame remarks.
The Suns bumped their record to 69-43 with this latest triumph.
