|
Chicago left-hander Mike Hampton made an effective start against the Kansas City Royals at Wrigley Field, leading his team to a 4-0 win. The save was credited to Frank DiPino, his 1st. With the loss, Kansas City drops to 1-1.
In the bottom of the third, Eric Karros hit a 2-run double for Chicago. The 1st double of the season for the Chicago designated hitter put the Cubs on top, 2-0.
"We take it day by day here," said Hampton, "and today was a good one for us."
