Cyclones Come Back Late, Nip Whalers
The Brooklyn Cyclones eked out a 4-3 win versus the Hartford Whalers at Ballpark of Fremont. Nobody did more than pitcher Steve W Sparks, who captured player of the game honors. Sparks went the distance for Brooklyn. He gave up no earned runs on 5 hits. Brooklyn has now won 6 straight.

The Cyclones were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when catcher Takeshi Nakamura turned a 0-1 fastball from Brad Cornett into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave Brooklyn a thrilling 4-3 win.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Brooklyn manager .
