Multi-HR Day for Martinez as Otters Overpower Red Wings, 8-5
|
Carlos A. Martinez made an impact in the 8-5 Milwaukee win over Rochester. Martinez, who is tied for 2nd in the ATL in doubles with 37, slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Allen Watson was the winner. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Mark Clear was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 11 save opportunities.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Milwaukee got a break when Martinez went to the plate. With two outs, the bases empty and the Otters leading 2-1, Martinez hit a solo home run.
"We came out aggressive," said Otters manager . "We came out swinging the bats."
