Moonshiners Bang Out 6-1 Win Versus Bluff City
|
The Asheville Moonshiners grabbed a 6-1 win over the Bluff City Beasties at Ravens Ballpark. Asheville center fielder Rikkert Faneyte was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Orel Hershiser picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-9. He struck out 1 in 7 innings. Asheville leads the Atlantic Southeast by 3 games.
Asheville relied on the hitting of Wilton Guerrero to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the second inning to put the Moonshiners on top, 2-0. For the game, Guerrero had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Guerrero told reporters after the game.
