Slammers Win at Ocean City, 5-3
|
The Southeast Slammers trumped the Ocean City Blue Crabs, 5-3, at Fire Dogs Ballpark. Southeast left fielder Mike Simms was named player of the game for his performance. He was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Greg Keagle earned the win for Southeast. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 11-8. Southeast, now 66-56, holds third place in the Atlantic Southeast.
With Southeast leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Simms hit a fastball from Darrell May for a 3-run home run. It was his 46th home run of the season and put the Slammers ahead, 4-0.
"We take it day by day here," said Simms, "and today was a good one for us."
