Losing Streak Continues for Cyclones with 9-7 Loss to Clippers
The Columbus Clippers trumped the Brooklyn Cyclones, 9-7, at Ballpark of Fremont. Columbus center fielder Wendell Magee was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jamey Wright, credited with the win, is now 11-7. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings. Nelson Cruz earned his 27th save in 32 chances.

The Cyclones had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Clippers going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old center fielder Miguel Mejia came to the plate. Mejia hit a run-scoring single on a first pitch curveball from Brooklyn hurler Brian Barber. It was Mejia's 84th hit of the year.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Mejia said.

The losses continue to add up for Brooklyn, which has now fallen 9 times in a row.
