The Hartford Whalers beat the Rochester Red Wings, 9-6, at Ballpark of Ft. Lauderdale. Hartford right fielder Brady Anderson earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Hartford starter Miguel Batista was credited with the win after throwing 116 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 11-1. Paul Byrd earned his 3rd save in 5 chances.

It could have been a different outcome for Hartford, had it not been for Scott Stahoviak, the 26-year old designated hitter . Stahoviak contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put Hartford up, 3-0.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Anderson.

After today's action, Hartford sits at 65-56, while Rochester falls to 28-93.
