Nashville left fielder Dion James had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. James was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times, even as New Orleans beat the Sounds, 7-6. James was named the player of the game despite the loss. New Orleans reliever Luis Aquino was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Chad Fox took the loss for Nashville. With the loss, Nashville falls to 1-1.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when New Orleans right fielder Jose L Cruz, facing Jose RF Santiago, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Brass the 7-6 win.
"We got the victory," said Cruz. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
