The Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the Nashville Sounds, 9-5, at Red Devils Stadium. Omaha designated hitter Pete Incaviglia was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Omaha reliever Dave Shipanoff picked up the win to move to 1-0. Matt Mantei suffered the loss. Omaha, at 2-0, has sizzled in the early going.

Omaha used the timely hitting of Jeff Grotewold to capture the win. The catcher socked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Storm Chasers ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Incaviglia.
