Franklin Excels, But Storm Chasers Win
|
Omaha withstood an impressive performance by Tacoma designated hitter Micah Franklin to defeat the Rainiers, 9-8, at Maples Stadium. Franklin was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Pat Gomez got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 1 innings. Tony J. Castillo recorded his 2nd save for Omaha.
In the bottom of the fifth, Omaha center fielder Kerwin Moore had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Moore stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 8-6, Omaha. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Moore told the Omaha Observer.
The Storm Chasers, now 2-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
