Rainiers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Storm Chasers
Tacoma and Omaha duked it out at Maples Stadium and the Rainiers came out victorious.

The Tacoma Rainiers topped the Omaha Storm Chasers, 7-5, in Pacific action at Maples Stadium. The player of the game was Tacoma pitcher and New Bedford, Massachusetts native Brian Rose. Jeff Wallace picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Mike Bovee was tagged with the loss. Tavo Alvarez recorded his 1st save for Tacoma.

One important at-bat came with a runner on 2nd in the top of the seventh inning. Facing Omaha hurler Mike Bovee, Jose Guillen, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1996 draft, got hit by a pitch. The Rainiers went on to win.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Guillen. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

The win leaves Tacoma with a record of 2-2.
