Pirates Jolt White Sox with Late Rally
The Pirates faced a stiff challenge from Chicago pitcher Bruce Ruffin, but persevered to claim a win at Comiskey Park. The final score was 5-4. Ruffin went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Chicago, at 5-16, is off to a poor start in 1994.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when first baseman Andy Van Slyke, who finished 3rd in the FL in triples with 12 in 1986, hit a double. The Pirates went on to win.

"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Van Slyke.
