Brass Score Late to Upend Missions, 4-3
|
San Antonio pitcher Jeff Pico gave the Brass all they could handle, but in the end, New Orleans left Texans Stadium with a 4-3 win. Pico allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits over 5 innings. New Orleans reliever Cris Carpenter was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Mauro Gozzo took the loss. New Orleans, now 4-1, is setting the league on fire so far.
New Orleans used the timely hitting of Jose Vidro to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Brass on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Vidro told a New Orleans Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
