The Nashville Sounds got a superb performance from pitcher Esteban Loaiza. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Salt Lake City. The Buzz won the game, 2-0. In spite of the loss, Loaiza was named the player of the game. He threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball. Mike Oquist earned the win for Salt Lake City. He lasted 6 innings, allowing no earned runs on 3 hits, while striking out 0. With the win, he raised his record to 1-1. Paul Spoljaric closed the game out for Salt Lake City, earning his 3rd save.
Charlie Greene contributed to the Salt Lake City win with a solo home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"It was a solid team effort," said Greene after the game.
The win leaves Salt Lake City with a record of 4-3.
