Lankford Delivers Walk-Off Win for Royals
|
Kansas City left-hander Denny Neagle made an effective start against the St. Louis Cardinals at Royals Stadium, leading his team to a 4-3 win. The Royals, now 2-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
The Kansas City triumph was a team effort. Not least among the contributors was Ray Lankford. In the bottom of the ninth, the Kansas City pinch hitter hit a walk-off run-scoring single. It staked his team to a 4-3 lead.
"I just try to put up zeroes," said Neagle, "and let the rest take care of itself."
