The Charlotte Knights had to overcome a big game from Milwaukee first baseman Carlos Delgado to leave Milwaukee County Stadium with a 12-3 victory. Delgado slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Knights, now 2-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.

In the top of the first, Nomar Garciaparra pounced on a curveball from Kelly Downs and hit a run-scoring double. It gave Charlotte a quick 1-0 lead.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Garciaparra.
