Brass Sneak Past Sky Fox, 5-4
|
Colorado Springs pitcher Jason Christiansen gave the Brass all they could handle, but in the end, New Orleans left Bay Hawks Ballpark with a 5-4 win. Christiansen allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 6.2 innings. Brian Holman was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. The save was credited to Mark Brandenburg, his 3rd.
Had Steve Gibralter not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Gibralter hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Brass.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Gibralter.
The loss drops Colorado Springs to 3-6.
