Victory Pushes Brass Record to 8-5
|
The New Orleans Brass topped the Omaha Storm Chasers, 7-2, in Pacific action at Maples Stadium. The player of the game was New Orleans pitcher and Gary, Indiana native LaTroy Hawkins. New Orleans, now 8-5, has played well in the early going.
New Orleans used the clutch hitting of Carmelo Martinez to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to give the Brass the lead, 1-0. For the game, Martinez had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"Enjoyed this one," Martinez told the New Orleans Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
