River Rats Take Tight Tilt
|
Spokane beat Tacoma at Premont Grounds, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Kirk Rueter, who earned player of the game honors. Mike Magnante closed the door for Spokane, picking up his 4th save of the year. Losses have been few and far between for the Rainiers so far this season. Their record drops to 9-4.
Spokane used the timely hitting of Nigel Wilson to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the River Rats on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Tacoma manager said following the tough loss.
