|
Benefiting from Dave McCarty's productive game, the Tucson Tarantulas downed the Naperville Lazy Fisherman, 5-3. McCarty went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI for the Tarantulas. Matt Wagner earned the win for Tucson. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 1-2. Jeff Shaw got credit for the save for Tucson. It was his 1st of the year.
McCarty had a game-changing single in the top of the sixth. On a 2-0 fastball from Carlos C. Maldonado, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Tarantulas a 4-3 lead. It was the 17th hit of the year for McCarty.
McCarty called the triumph "a good team win."
The Tarantulas, now 10-3, have been playing some good baseball.
