Giants Beat Visiting Blue Jays, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring clash between San Francisco and Toronto, pitcher Floyd Youmans was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for San Francisco in the 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Youmans, now 3-0. He tossed 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 7. Randy Myers was credited with the save for San Francisco, his 3rd of the season.
San Francisco took a 3-1 lead on Delino DeShields's 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Toronto pitcher Dana Kiecker in the bottom of the seventh.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Youmans told the San Francisco Bulletin.
The Giants have hit the ground running, raising their record to 17-3. While it's still too soon to talk about San Francisco hoisting their 1st World Series trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
