Athletics Solve Marlins, 5-3
|
Florida right fielder Ellis Burks had a good game, even if his team did not. The Marlins dropped a 5-3 decision to Oakland at Oakland Coliseum. Burks slugged 2 home runs. Kurt Kepshire picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 9. On the season, he is now 2-2. The Marlins fall to 8-12 and continue their wobbly start to the 1994 season.
Jose Oquendo had a big 2-run double for the Athletics in the bottom of the third inning. With Oakland trailing 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Frank Wills and stroked the double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 4-3.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Oquendo.
