The Tucson Tarantulas knocked off the Round Rock Express, 10-8, at Alleycats Ballpark. Reggie B. Williams was named player of the game for Tucson. He produced 2 singles and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Rick Krivda earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 3 earned runs on 10 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Jose Mesa closed the door for Tucson, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Tucson relied on the hitting of Tony Clark to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tarantulas on top, 9-3. For the game, Clark had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Tarantulas manager . "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
The Express fall to 5-9 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1995 season.
