River Rats Trip Sounds, 3-2

The Spokane River Rats got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Scott Eyre, but it was good enough for the club to take a 3-2 decision over the Nashville Sounds. Ricky Trlicek, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. No one expected much of this team but the hot start by Spokane might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. The win today pushes their record to 12-7.
Had Tony Rodriguez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Rodriguez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the River Rats.
"Winning is contagious," said Rodriguez. "We're looking forward to the next game."
