Missions Come Back Late to Clip Brass
The San Antonio Missions got a magnificent effort from pitcher Les Lancaster, who kept New Orleans hitters in check en route to a 3-0 Missions win at Bay Hawks Ballpark. Lancaster, now 2-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Earning his 4th save of the year was Jeff Shaw.

San Antonio used the clutch hitting of Randy Ready to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Missions the lead, 1-0. For the game, Ready had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" San Antonio manager said.

At 13-6, the Missions have played well so far.
