The Colorado Springs Sky Fox defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars, 8-5. Earning player of the game honors was center fielder Bruce Aven, who hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The Chukars fall to 9-11 and continue their uneven start to the 1997 season.

Aven contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Colorado Springs in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Aven took a changeup from Jim Pittsley and stroked the home run to left. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Sky Fox to leap in front, 3-1.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Aven told the Colorado Springs Herald.
