Leftwich, Chukars Get 11-1 Win
|
Spirited fans at Premont Grounds greeted the Tacoma Rainiers for their clash with the Idaho Falls Chukars.
Pitcher Phil Leftwich was sensational for the Idaho Falls Chukars in his team's 11-1 triumph over the Tacoma Rainiers. Leftwich received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. The Rainiers fall to 9-13 and continue their uneven start to the 1997 season.
Tacoma could barely put a dent in Leftwich. The right-hander tossed 114 pitches over 9 innings for the Chukars, allowing only 4 hits.
Tacoma manager called the blowout loss "a real stinker."
