Sounds Trip Missions in Extras
|
The Nashville Sounds dealt the San Antonio Missions a 5-4 loss at Texans Stadium. Tom Quinlan was the star on offense. He was 3 for 6 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Nashville reliever Matt Mantei picked up the win to move to 2-1. Mauro Gozzo suffered the loss. Getting the save was Pat Gomez, his 1st.
Nashville used the timely hitting of Donnell Neal to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Sounds on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said San Antonio manager .
No one expected much of this team but the hot start by Nashville might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. The win today pushes their record to 14-9.
