Sounds Deal Tarantulas Painful Loss
|
The Tucson Tarantulas got a superb performance from second baseman Mark Bellhorn, but the Nashville Sounds still won the game, 5-4. Bellhorn was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Jose J. Bautista in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Keith Foulke took the loss. Losses have been rare for the Tarantulas, who are now 18-5.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Felix Martinez came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Tucson pitcher Keith Foulke, he hit a 1-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Nashville on top, 5-4.
"This place was electric at the end," Martinez said.
