The Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the Spokane River Rats, 14-8, in Pacific action at Maples Stadium, with Omaha right fielder Jack Voigt named player of the game. Pete J. Smith got the win, improving to 3-0. He held the River Rats to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 2. The Storm Chasers raised their record to 19-4.

Chip Hale, who is tied for 2nd in the PAC in bases on balls with 17, aided the Omaha cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first. For the game, the second baseman drew 3 walks in 5 plate appearances.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Hale.
