Spiders Prove Rude Guests, Win 5-2 at Chicago
|
Cleveland starter John Thomson had a strong outing against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. Thomson, now 2-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Losses have been few and far between for the Cubs so far this season. Their record drops to 15-7.
Cleveland relied on the bat of Tomas Perez to get the win. The shortstop ripped a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Spiders ahead, 2-0. For the game, Perez had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We did enough to win," said Thomson.
