Pilots Prevail, 6-5, Over Washington
|
The Seattle Pilots defeated the Washington Senators, 6-5, in United League action at RFK Stadium. Edgar Martinez received player of the game honors. The 9-year veteran was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The Senators, now 13-8, continue their sluggish start.
Seattle used the clutch hitting of Paul O'Neill to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Pilots the lead, 6-5. For the game, O'Neill had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said O'Neill.
