Orioles Shut Out Rockies

The Baltimore Orioles got a strong performance from pitcher Dwight Gooden, who stymied the Colorado offense en route to a 4-0 win at Mile High Stadium. Gooden got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. Gooden allowed no earned runs. Roger McDowell closed the door for Baltimore, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Also having an impact was designated hitter Ed Sprague Jr., who stroked a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth for Baltimore. For the game, Sprague Jr. was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Colorado skipper , "and it cost us."
With the win, Baltimore goes to 11-10.
