Dodgers Fall to .500 After Loss to Mets
|
The New York Mets got a stellar performance from pitcher Tom Glavine, who handcuffed the Los Angeles offense en route to a 5-1 win at Dodger Stadium. Glavine went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-1. The Dodgers fall to 11-11 and continue their uneasy start to the 1997 season.
It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Sammy Sosa, the 1990 Rookie of the Year winner . Sosa contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put New York up, 2-0.
"It was a good effort all around," said Sosa.
