Rainiers Roll Over Storm Chasers, 10-4
|
Tacoma first baseman Mario Valdez had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Omaha Storm Chasers, 10-4. Tacoma reliever Jeff Wallace picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Pete J. Smith was saddled with the loss. The last-place Rainiers improved to 13-23.
Tacoma took a 5-4 lead on Valdez's 20th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which he hit off Pete J. Smith in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Tacoma to the win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Valdez, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
