Brass Need Extras to Top Sky Fox
|
New Orleans turned a good effort from starter LaTroy Hawkins into a win over the Colorado Springs Sky Fox at Motors Ballpark. The final score was 3-2. Reliever Brent Knackert picked up the win. His record improves to 4-1. Archie Corbin took the loss. New Orleans has an impressive 30-13 record.
The Sky Fox had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Brass going into the top of the 13th inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old third baseman Jeff Branson came to the plate. Branson hit a run-scoring single on a 3-1 fastball from Colorado Springs hurler Archie Corbin. It was Branson's 46th hit of the year.
"There's no quit in this team," said Brass manager .
