Red Sox Stay Hot, Beat Reds
|
The Boston Red Sox stopped the Cincinnati Reds, 6-4, behind an impressive performance from Barry Bonds. The seven-time All-Star made life miserable for Cincinnati pitching. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. The winner was Boston reliever Julio Valera, now 1-0. The loser was John Fulgham. Losses have been few and far between for the Reds so far this season. Their record drops to 15-7.
Making an impact for the home team was Craig Grebeck. In the bottom of the seventh, the former first round draft pick had a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-4, Red Sox.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Grebeck.
